“Pharmacovigilance Week Celebration”

Highlights of the Activity:
The Research & Development Department of Y. D. Mane Institute of Pharmacy, Kagal successfully organized Pharmacovigilance Week with the aim to raise awareness on drug safety, promote adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting, and strengthen the culture of pharmacovigilance among students.
Activity 1: Guest Lecture
Date: 22nd September 2025
A guest lecture on “Your Safety, Just a Click Away: Report to PvPI” was delivered by Dr. Nayeem Khateeb, HOD, Pharmacology, KLE College of Pharmacy, Belagavi.
The session highlighted the importance of timely ADR reporting to the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) and motivated students to actively participate in drug safety initiatives.
The event was graced by Principal Dr. Samiullah A. Auti, faculty members, and all students. The lecture proved highly informative and fulfilled its objective of enhancing pharmacovigilance awareness.
Activity 2: Institute Level Quiz Competition
Date: 24th September 2025
An institute-level quiz competition was conducted to test students’ knowledge of pharmacovigilance. Seven teams from B. Pharm and D. Pharm participated across four rounds—General Knowledge, Visual, Rapid Fire, and Buzzer.
The event was coordinated by Ms. Swagata Godabole and Ms. Nikhita Bhosale, and judged by Dr. K. Satish Kumar and Dr. Nilesh Desai.
Winners:
- 1st Rank: Final Year B. Pharm
- 2nd Rank: Final Year B. Pharm
- 3rd Rank: Third Year B. Pharm
The competition encouraged academic excellence and increased interest in drug safety practices.
Activity 3: Street Play
Date: 25th September 2025
A street play was performed at Gaibi Chouk, Kagal to educate the public about ADR reporting and responsible medicine use. Real-life scenarios emphasized the risks of ignoring side effects.
PSI Gajendra Lohar and his team attended the event and delivered a strong message on saying no to drugs and preventing drug misuse.
The rally received strong support from Principal Dr. Samiullah A. Auti, teaching and non-teaching staff, and management members including Shri. Pratap Mane, Shri. Bipin Mane, and Mrs. Shilpa Patil.
The performance was well-received and proved effective in community drug safety awareness.
The Pharmacovigilance Week activities successfully promoted a culture of safety, strengthened student participation, and enhanced understanding of the vital role of pharmacovigilance in healthcare.
