Highlights of the Workshop:
The Department of Research & Development, Y.D.Mane Institute of Pharmacy, Kagal organized a workshop on the topic “Exploring In-Silico Drug Discovery: Molecular Docking Tools in Action” on 22nd April, 2025 at Seminar Hall. The session was conducted by Mr. Shankar Gharge [Researcher] from KLE Academy of Higher Education & Research, Belagavi. The speaker introduced the concept of molecular docking, explaining its principles, types and scoring functions. Real-world applications were showcased, especially in drug design, target identification, and virtual screening. Various docking software tools were mentioned such as Schrödinger, Autodock, Pyrex and MOE also the website to collect protein & ligand structure like PDB and Pubchem respectively. A step-by-step overview of a docking simulation was presented. The session also included a Q&A segment, where students asked questions about research opportunities and project ideas in computational biology.
